Scam Warning Involving Fed Ex

(HURON COUNTY) -- Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson warns residents of a recent scam that involves a fraudulent email that appears as if it is coming from Fed Ex. The email reads:

Dear Customer,
Your parcel has arrived at the post office on January 18. Our courier was unable to deliver the parcel to you. To receive your parcel, please, go to the nearest office and show this receipt.
Best Regards, The FedEx Team.

There is a link to a fictitious receipt. It is suspected that if the person clicks on the box "Get & Print Receipt," it may result in your computer getting a virus. Fed Ex confirms that the email message is a fraud and the company has been receiving reports of this scam since October of last year. Sheriff Hanson recommends that residents who may receive the fraudulent email, to contact Fed Ex directly at 800-463-3339.
