(AREA) -- State Representative Terry Brown of Pigeon recently praised several school districts in the Thumb after they were named among the best in the state by Bridge magazine. Across all metrics, Kingston Community Schools earned the No. 8 ranking in the state. Judging by high school achievement, Caseville Public Schools and Kingston were ranked second and third in the state, respectively. Among rural districts, the magazine ranked Harbor Beach Community Schools sixth, Ubly Community Schools eighth and Caseville ninth. Brown stated that the honors are just the latest indicator of what a great place the Thumb is to live and raise a family. With education funding being cut significantly in the last two years, and more cuts looming on the horizon, succeeding in giving children the best education possible is harder than ever. State Representative Brown says he will continue to fight for school funding.
