Armada Area Schools were closed today out of an abundance of caution after two attending students were taken into custody following a Sunday breaking and entering.

The break-in, reported on March 19 from a Berlin Township residence, involved the theft of four firearms. Via a press release, the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office says that after extensive interviews and investigation, two of the four guns were found and two juveniles taken into custody yesterday evening.

Despite no threats being made in reference to the schools, students are staff of the district, administrators ultimately decided to cancel Monday classes.

With two of the four guns still unaccounted for, the case is ongoing and “very active”, with no other information released at this time.
