After almost a year since his arrest last April, 54-year-old Booker T. Brown was found guilty of assault with intent to murder, as well as unlawful imprisonment.

With his million dollar bond revoked and him remanded back to jail after the jury announced their verdict Thursday, it won’t be until sentencing on May 4 at 8:30 a.m. will Brown learn of his punishment, with up to a life’s sentence possibly for the assault with intent to murder charge. He also faces a possible $20,000 fine and/or a maximum of 15 years in prison for the unlawful imprisonment charge.

The charges stem from April 6, 2022, when Brown attacked a 49-year-old female acquaintance in her home in the 1400 block of 13th Street, with the woman managing to escape despite having been physically beaten and assaulted with both a hammer and a knife. After an almost 12-hour search on April 7, Port Huron Police had arrested Brown, with him being arraigned on April 10, 2022.

The trial, which had been rescheduled several times, was presented before St. Clair County 31st Circuit Court Judge Daniel Damman starting at 9:00 a.m. this past Tuesday, March 14. Witness testimony began shortly after opening remarks Tuesday, continuing into days two and three of the trial as well.
