Jury selection started this morning in the trial of James Stanich, a Brown City man accused of second-degree murder after his intoxicated March 2021 car crash left 30-year-old Graham Wiltse dead and two others injured. He is also being charged with evidence tampering and operating while intoxicated.
Stanich told police that he had huffed a computer keyboard cleaner leading up to the 10:00 p.m. crash., when he allegedly drove the wrong way down I-69 in his Chevrolet pickup, hitting a Dodge Challenger head-on. The collision, which happened in Emmett Township east of M-19, sent the Dodge Challenger crashing into the path of an eastbound Honda Accord, causing another point of impact.
Of evidence collected, police found several cans of the mentioned keyboard cleaner that had been thrown from Stanich’s vehicle.
