Traffic crash claims life of Unionville man

(TUSCOLA COUNTY) – Just before 8 a.m. Wednesday, Tuscola County Sheriff Deputies responded to a report of a serious accident at the intersection of M-24/M-46, in Tuscola County’s Indianfields Township.

According to deputies, a 47 year-old Ubly man was traveling westbound on M-46 operating a 2001 Kenworth tanker hauling 12,000 lbs., of milk.

Police say the driver failed to stop at the traffic signal and struck a southbound M-24 driver of a pick-up truck.

The southbound driver, a 63-year-old male from Unionville, was operating a 2012 white colored Ford F-150 pickup truck and was ejected upon impact.

The Unionville driver died at the scene. Investigators believe that no seatbelt was being worn.

Traffic was snarled at the intersection for several hours, and M-46 was closed while rescue crews worked to clear the scene and the investigation was done.

The fatal accident remains under investigation.
