Bond issue in the hands of Yale voters

Yale school voters to decide bond issue

(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – Voters in the Yale School District will be going to the polls next month to determine the fate of a proposed bond issue that if passed, will mean no new school taxes for taxpayers in the district.

The district’s plan asks for $15.8 million dollars to remodel school buildings. The proposal includes a variety of facility improvements to all school buildings and district officials claim the bond would be paid off in 12 years.

Improvements would include replacing unit ventilators at all District buildings that would include digital controls and a new energy management systems for heating and ventilating.

In addition, mechanical systems, including boilers at the junior high and at Yale Elementary, domestic water heaters, rooftop heating and ventilating units, and air filtering systems would be replaced, if the issue passes.

District officials say engineering and architectural building assessments were done in 2020 and projected cost of the improvements were finalized this summer.

If approved by voters on November 2nd, construction work is expected to begin next summer.
