Missing St. Clair County woman identified

(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – The St. Clair County Sheriff Department has confirmed what many already felt, that the body pulled from the St. Clair River in Marine City September 25th has been positively identified as a Casco Township woman missing since May.

Sheriff Mat King confirmed late last week that the woman found inside the submerged, heavily damaged vehicle was 84-year old Nadine Moses.

A blue Ford belonging to Moses was recovered from the St. Clair River.

Adventures With Purpose, a search and rescue team based out of Oregon that was contacted by Moses’ family, was searching the river in an area that had already been searched by local rescue personnel, when they found the vehicle on it’s roof at the bottom of the river about 30 feet off shore.

Divers with the Oregon-based company say the recovered vehicle had damage consistent with being hit by a freighter-type boat while submerged in the river.

St. Clair County Sheriff Dive Team personnel say the vehicle appeared to have sustained extensive damage.
