Yale to celebrate Hometown Freedom Festival

(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – After having to cancel the

Yale Bologna Festival for a second straight year, the Yale Area Chamber of Commerce has put their organizational skills together to present a one-day special event honoring local heroes on the 20th anniversary of 9-11.

The Hometown Freedom Festival will be held Saturday, September 11th in the Yale City Park with a variety of activities planned including an Opening Ceremony at 3 pm that will honor local Veterans along with police officers and fire department members.

Following the ceremony, which will include a tribute to those lost in the 9-11 attacks, visitors to the park will be able to take advantage of many activities including pony rides, cornhole tournament and Civil War demonstrations.

There is also a Pet Parade planned, along with a karaoke contest, inflatables, a Community Picnic and live entertainment throughout the day.

Food trucks and a concession stand will be available during the celebration. If you plan to enjoy the music in the park, you are encouraged to bring your own lawn chair.
