(SANILAC COUNTY) – Three people were injured in a motorcycle-car crash in Sanilac County’s Greenleaf Township around 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

According to Sheriff Paul Rich, Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting a motorcycle vs. car personal injury traffic crash at the intersection of Germania Road and Bay City-Forestville Road.

Deputies along with the Argyle Township Fire Department, Sanilac EMS and the Bingham Township Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.

Initial investigation determined a 77-year-old male from Sun City West, Arizona was going north on Germania Road on his 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle and stopped at the stop sign for Bay City-Forestville Rd.

The motorcycle then continued north and pulled into the path of an eastbound 2013 Ford Edge driven by a 65-year-old male from Bad Axe.

The 77-year-old male subject was transported by Life Flight to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw for treatment of serious injuries while a 68-year-old female passenger from the motorcycle was transported by Sanilac EMS to Hills and Dales Hospital in Cass City.

The 65-year-old male driver of the Ford Edge was treated on scene and released.

Deputies say both the operator and passenger of the motorcycle were wearing their helmets.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash. Deputies were assisted on scene by the Ubly Police Department.

This crash remains under investigation and names are not being released at this time.
