The Sanilac County Sheriff Department is asking for the public’s help on locating an escaped prisoner. Sheriff Paul Rich said Thursday morning around 10:30 a.m. 27-year old Aaron Anthony Roll, an Inmate at the Sanilac County Jail, was working as an Inmate Worker on the Inmate Work Crew Program at a job site in Flynn Township when he walked away.

Aaron Roll was last seen eastbound from the area of Shephard Rd and Peck Rd in Flynn Township. Roll was last seen wearing a White T-Shirt and Orange set of inmate pants.

Sheriff’s Office personnel are actively looking for Aaron Anthony Roll and persons with information are asked to please contact Sanilac County Central Dispatch.

He is described as a 27-year old white male, approximately 189 pounds, and 5-foot 11-inches tall. Sheriff Rich stated the work crew was conducting maintenance at the Flynn Township Hall, at Peck Road and Shepard Road and Roll just walked away.

He said the Sheriff’s Office Inmate Work Crew Program has been in place for many years and utilizes lower classification inmates to perform community service within the Sanilac County Community.

Lieutenant Nathan Smith said this is the first incident of walking away from the program since 2016. Lt. Smith also said Roll was scheduled to be released in November.

Sheriff Rich said Roll was originally incarcerated for larceny in a building and receiving stolen property.
