(HURON COUNTY) –  Early Monday morning, Huron County Sheriff Deputies responded to two separate deadly incidents.

According to Sheriff Kelly Hanson, the first incident was reported just before 6 a.m. on Crown Road in Meade Twp. Hanson said the call involved a 68-year old Filion man who was found deceased with severe burns.

Investigators say Kenneth Periso had last been seen the night before, burning brush and observing it from a chair near an out building.

Sheriff Hanson said Periso lived at the residence with his brother and sister who had gone to bed for the night. According to investigators, Periso remained outside having a few drinks and was discovered Monday morning deceased and severely burned.

Deputies and the Huron County Medical Examiner’s Office are indicating the victim accidentally fell into the fire and got himself back to the chair before passing away.

At this time, investigators do not believe there was any foul play.

Sheriff Hanson said the second incident came in Monday afternoon, shortly after 3 p.m. at a lake front residence on S. Lakeshore Rd. in Sherman Township south of Harbor Beach.

Hanson said a 66-year old male homeowner had been found floating unresponsive in the lake, after he had earlier told his wife and friends that he was going to take a lake bath in chest deep water.

CPR efforts were initiated but not successful and Jeffrey Hineman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Also assisting at the scene where the Eastern Huron Ambulance Service and Huron County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Autopsies have been ordered for both deaths, according to the Sheriff Department.
