(HURON COUNTY) – The Harbor Beach girls basketball team suffered perhaps their toughest loss in 12 years, following the news that their head coach, Jim Tamlyn and his family have decided to leave the district and move to the U.P. to pursue a new employment opportunity.
Tamlyn, the high-powered, fiery coach who gives his all to coaching the successful Harbor Beach girls program, has accepted the offer to become Principal in the Gwinn school district.
The Gwinn area is where Tamlyn’s family is from and often a destination for the Harbor Beach girls to go to basketball camp.
During his tenure at The ‘Beach, Tamlyn led teams to league and district titles and developed his squads into some of the best in the Thumb area.
Despite the sadness in leaving a place they’ve called home for the past 12 years, Tamlyn, his wife and two children are excited about the new beginning and will be thankful for all of the relationships they built while in Harbor Beach.
