(SANILAC COUNTY) – An out-of-county man was arrested in Sanilac County following an incident in the early morning hours of Tuesday.

According to Michigan State Police from the Caro Post, Troopers were dispatched to a residence in Lexington shortly after midnight.

The 911 caller advised a woman was frantically knocking on the door needing assistance. Investigators say the victim, a 38-year-old woman from Wisconsin, had sustained serious injuries to multiple areas of her body.

The victim reported she had been threatened and assaulted by her boyfriend with a knife. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Troopers attempted a traffic stop and after a short chase, the suspect eventually surrendered. The suspect, Jason Edward Warren, a 39-year-old Muskegon man, was lodged at the Sanilac County Jail and was arraigned Wednesday on multiple felony charges, including assault with intent to murder.

Troopers were assisted by Lexington and Croswell police departments and the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.
