Yale council to hold informational pot meeting

(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – A large crowd is expected to gather in Yale Wednesday evening as the topic of marijuana takes center stage.

City officials have been grappling with the issue for several months, after inquiries were made about businesses possibly locating within the city limits.

While the pandemic has affected numerous scheduled meetings to further discuss the issue, a public meeting has been set for this Wednesday evening at the Yale High School beginning at 7 p.m.

City officials have pointed out the meeting is not for public input, rather to hear information from a host of speakers, including St. Clair County Sheriff Mat King and Yale Public Schools Superintendent Ken Nicholls.

Also in attendance will be members of the Yale City council, all of whom will have an opportunity to ask questions to industry representatives and other officials.

At some point, council is expected to take a vote on the issue.
