TUSCOLA COUNTY, MICH. Three Michigan State Police (MSP) troopers and a sergeant assigned to the Caro Post were dispatched to a missing person complaint on May 12, 2021 just before 11:00 p.m. in Kingston Township. The caller stated her 53-year-old husband had not returned home from his hunting property as expected.
He was last seen driving away from a friend’s home on his tractor through approximately 168 acres back to his vehicle. Troopers began looking for the man on foot and after a long period of time, located him lying near his tractor, lifeless on the ground.
Troopers were able to rouse the man, but he complained of chest pain. Troopers commandeered a pickup from the nearest residence and transported the man in the bed of the pickup to a waiting ambulance.
Before they could meet with the ambulance, the man lost consciousness, stopped breathing, and had no pulse. While driving out of the unforgiving terrain, troopers were again able to achieve a good airway and breathing again started.
Upon exiting the field, Troopers met with EMS personnel. The man was loaded into the ambulance and transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
At the time of the incident the temperature was listed at 35 degrees. The male subject was in a secluded location for approximately 3 hours.
