Arnold Knaggs of Carsonville is racing.

(SANILAC COUNTY) – Arnold Knaggs of Carsonville is no stranger to driving semi-trucks, over the highways – or on a race track in Northern Michigan.

Knaggs is among those who have registered their Big Rigs to compete in the annual Big Rig Challenge in Onaway on Memorial Day weekend.

Knaggs will be racing a 1967 International 4070A with a 12.7 Detroit engine and is being sponsored by Van Alstine Truck of Sandusky, A-1 Truck parts and Knaggs Trucking.

Trucks of various shapes, sizes and colors converge on Onaway Speedway at the end of May, hooking up to flatbed trailers filled with logs as they race down a track that takes drivers uphill at the finish line.

While doing his regular truck driving duties, Knaggs is also hard at work preparing his machine for the fun-filled weekend that draws thousands of fans and hundreds of competitors to the three-day event at the Onaway Race Track.

Knaggs has also delighted area fans by entering his big rig in local truck pulling competitions.
