Man shot in alleged botched break-in attempt

(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – One person was injured in a shooting in the 900 block of Huron Avenue in Port Huron early Sunday morning.

Officers from the Port Huron police department responded to a call of the shooting shortly after 5 a.m.

A 31-year old female who lives in the Huron Avenue home told Central Dispatch she had shot a 35-year-old Richmond man in the neck.

The man was allegedly attempting to break into the home, according to investigators.

The Richmond man was taken to McLaren Port Huron before being transported to McLaren Macomb for further treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.

The investigation continues by the Port Huron Criminal Investigation Division and Major Crimes Unit.

No charges have been filed against either person involved in the incident, according to police.
