Ohio man arrested after making threats against Port Huron school

Cleveland Elementary School in Port Huron was in lock down mode for about an hour Wednesday morning after several calls were made to St. Clair County Central Dispatch threatening to burn down the school and shoot police officers. The Port Huron Police Department immediately responded to the school, which went into a soft lock down while police investigated. Central Dispatch tracked the phone calls to an apartment in the 2700 block of Nern Street in Port Huron, where police apprehended a 32-year old Ohio man who was in town visiting his girlfriend. While placing the man under arrest, police say he attempted to run and fight officers, who deployed a taser and were able to positively identify him using a portable fingerprint scanner. The suspect is currently lodged without bond in the St. Clair County Intervention Center on charges of Terrorism, False Report or threat of a bomb and Resisting and Obstructing arrest. The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment.
