Girls basketball scores from February 11th; Schedules

GIRLS HOOPS

Sandusky 36 Laker 25 – The lady Redskins moved to 2-0 on the young season with a GTC crossover win. Abby Trepkowski and Morgan Taege led the winners with seven points apiece while Brooke Jansen added seven rebounds, six assists and four steals. Sandusky was 8 of 12 from t he free throw line. Isabella Herford led Laker with 10 points. The Sandusky girls will be in action Saturday when they open GTC-East play at Ubly.

C-PS 48 Owen-Gage 33 – Lili Grigg ripped the nets for 20 points and hauled in eight rebounds to spark the Lady Tigers to victory. Stephanie Cahoon added 13 points as C-PS picked up their first win of the season.

Kingston 33 Deckerville 25 – The two NCTL teams played to a 8-8 tie before the lady Cardinals used a 6-2 second quarter advantage to hold a 14-10 lead at the half. Kingston outscored their league rival 20-15 in t he second half to remain undefeated on the year. Karley Kapen led the Deckerville scoring with 12 points and seven rebounds while Jenna Park added six points and six rebounds.

USA 24 Harbor Beach 23 – A free throw by Marci Mongomery late in the game was the difference for the Lady Patrriots in the GTC crossover contest. Montgomery had tied the game on a bucket with time running out and then hit the game-winning free throw to win it. Harbor Beach led 19-14 after three quarters before USA rallied for the exciting win. Bryn Polega led USA scoring with 8 points and Olivia Jubar tossed in seven. Paige Anderson had nine points for the ‘Beach. USA is back in action Sat with a game at Vassar while Harbor Beach will host Capac.

Bad Axe 48 Brown City 38 – The two teams were tied at 11 – 11 after the first period before the Lady Hatchets took charge with a 11-4 edge in the second and never looked back. Alexis Booms paced the winning scoring attack with 21 points and Cameron Affer chipped in with 7. Brown City was led by Olivia Bovenchen’s nine points and six boards. Bad Axe is back in action Saturday, traveling to Laker while Brown City battles GTC-East rival Marlette.

Reese 51 Ubly 31 – The Lady Rockets used a strong defensive effort to roll to the GTC crossover win. Madie Osentoski scored 19 points and Josie Johnson added 17 to lead Reese. DeJane Leipprandt topped Ubly scoring with 18 points, 16 of which came in the second half.
