Imlay Township board rejects proposed RV park

Residents in Imlay Township have voiced their concern over a proposed RV park that is planned to have up to 300 sites. At a recent meeting, the township board followed the recommendation of the township’s Planning Commission and rejected the request for a special land use permit, on a close 3-2 vote. During the virtual township meeting, several residents that live in the area stated they were concerned about property values, increased traffic volume and excessive noise. A township Zoning Ordinance does allow for a campgrounds on property zoned ag/residential. According to plans presented, owners said they intended for the park to be a quiet place to camp with 193 acres to work with and two thousand feet of frontage to the Belle River.
