A Tuscola County woman perished in a house fire

(TUSCOLA COUNTY) – Troopers from the Michigan State Police Caro Post are investigating six-alarm, deadly structure fire Saturday afternoon in Tuscola County.

According to investigators, a residence in the 5000 block of Waterman Road in Vassar Twp. was reported to be fully engulfed in flames around 2:30 p.m.

Multiple fire departments throughout Tuscola County responded to the blaze.

Upon their arrival, Troopers were informed of an unaccounted for resident of the home that was believe to be still inside the structure.

Fire fighters worked to remove 77-year-old Marcia Reil of Vassar from the burning home, although she was pronounced deceased by medical personnel on the scene.

Troopers were assisted by Vassar Fire Department, Richville Fire Department, Caro Fire Department, Mayville Fire Department, Millington Fire Department, Arbela Fire Department, MMR Personnel and Vassar Police Department.

Troopers from the Caro Post and members of the MSP Fire Investigation Unit continue their investigation.
