(SANILAC COUNTY) – Emergency crews were called to the scene of a two-vehicle in Elk Township early Wednesday morning that left two people injured.

Sanilac Central Dispatch sent fire, EMS and police to the intersection of Peck and Farr Roads, just east of Peck, around 9:30 a.m. after receiving reports of the crash.

First units on scene reported one person trapped in the wreckage.

Deputies’ initial investigation found that a Chevrolet Aveo driven by a 76-year-old Croswell woman was westbound on Peck Rd when it pulled off the side of the road and did a U-Turn in front of a westbound Honda Odyssey driven by a 41-year-old Applegate woman.

Deputies say the Applegate woman was unable to avoid striking the Croswell woman.

The Croswell woman and her 11-year-old passenger were both injured and both were transported to McKenzie Memorial Hospital for
treatment of their injuries.

The Applegate woman was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
