(SANILAC COUNTY) – The Sanilac County Health Department has been inundated with calls from people wanting the COVID-19 vaccine.
Due to the overwhelming requests, health department officials say they are pausing their appointment/waiting list until further notice.
The announcement came Friday afternoon.
Officials say as soon as the department has processed all the current requested appointments and has assurances there will be adequate vaccine supply, they will once again reopen the process for making appointments.
It was estimated the total number of outstanding appointments for people waiting to get their shot was around 2,800.
Health department officials have asked if you have already left a voicemail or submitted a written request, please do not call a second time or duplicate a request.
Those with appointments will be notified by the health department when they can receive the vaccine.
