Sandusky police annual activity report

The Sandusky police department reached a milestone last month, finishing the year by responding to over 3,000 calls for assistance.

Chief Brett Lester reports to city council that his department handled 203 calls in December and made 51 traffic stops. Officers gave 31 verbal warnings last month, made six arrests of adults and assisted other agencies outside the city limits 11 times.

For 2020, the department responded to 3,077 calls, arrested 193 people, made 776 traffic stops and wrote 145 traffic violations.

Officers issued 581 verbal warnings, handled over 200 cases of blight within the city limits and assisted other agencies 89 times outside of the city limits.

Of the 11 times Sandusky assisted other agencies last month, all but one of the calls was to help the Sanilac County Sheriff Department.

The 11th response was an assist to Michigan State Police Troopers on a traffic stop.
