(LAPEER COUNTY) – Now that construction of the new Imlay City fire hall is completed and the department has moved in to their new digs, additional safety measures are being taken that hopefully will benefit responding firefighters and motorists.

City officials recently took action to have a flashing emergency light installed at the intersection of M-53 and Borland Road that will automatically activate when the department receives a call.

The project, being funded by the Michigan Department of Transportation, is intended to alert motorist of emergency vehicles entering the busy highway.

Depending on weather conditions, Imlay City officials expect the work will be completed within the next two weeks.
