Accident investigation
(SANILAC COUNTY) – The Sanilac County Sheriff Department continues to investigate an accident over the weekend that injured a 36-year old woman.
According to authorities, the woman was seriously injured in a one-vehicle accident Sunday evening in Sanilac County’s Moore Township.
Sanilac County Sheriff Deputies say a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze operated by the woman from Chesterfield, was heading east on Washington Street, near Clark Street, when her vehicle entered a ditch before jumping an embankment and striking several trees.
The woman was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining serious injuries. She was transported to McKenzie Health System in Sandusky by Sanilac EMS and later flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw by Life Net helicopter.
Authorities say alcohol does appear to have been a factor in the crash.
Moore Township Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene.
