Sanilac “Shop with a Hero” a success

The Sanilac County Sheriff Department, and other county emergency agencies, could let Santa have all the fun this past week.

The department got into the holiday spirit when they hosted their 10th annual “shop with a hero” although a bit differently this year.

When all the holiday cheer had been handed out, law enforcement officers, fire department personnel and EMS staff were able to help out nearly 120 people from over 30 families.

Because of the pandemic, the annual Scotch Doubles tournament, which is a major fundraiser, wasn’t able to be done, but several in the community stepped in and donated.

Tubbs Brothers of Sandusky also donated coats, hats, and socks that were delivered to those in need.

Central Dispatch employ6ees not only helped deliver presents, but also helped wrap them.

Along with the sheriff’s department, heroes from Croswell EMS and police department, Sandusky Police Department, Lexington Police Department, the Moore Township Fire Department, Michigan State Police, and Port Sanilac Fire Department took part in the event.
