Brown City completes grant application process

Brown City officials continue to pursue the process of obtaining a grant from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) to complete a comprehensive Asset Management plan and Final Distribution System Materials Inventory for the City’s water system.

City Manager Clint Holmes reports the grant program will also help the city implement Michigan’s strengthened Lead and Copper Rule.

Holmes said a copy of the 51-page $600,000 grant application was provided to the Chairman of the Sewer and Water Committee while another copy is available for review at City Hall.

At their recent meeting, Holmes told city council members if there was no objection, a signed copy could be forwarded to the city’s Engineering company.

The entire grant package needed to be submitted to EGLE prior to January 1st.
