Christmas light displays draw thousands

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

(SANILAC COUNTY) – If you’re looking to escape from all that is going on and need help in getting in the Christmas spirit, a drive to western Sanilac County might just be the ticket.

Located on Germania Road, south of Cass City Road, the home of Joel and Jamie Nichol is not hard to find.

It’s the one with Christmas lights – 150,000 of them to be exact.

The Nichols have carried on a family tradition that was started nearly 40 years ago and drawn visitors from all over the area to enjoy their hard work.

They begin their work in early October, knowing thousands of visitors will soon drive by the spectacle.

Some of the original display pieces, including a merry-go-round and Ferris wheel, are still operating and a part of the beautiful large display.

The display, filled with technology and music, is open every day from 5:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. and as much as possible, the Nichols try to greet each car load of visitors that comes along.

There are also other outstanding light displays, including one just east of Peck, at the corner of peck and Farr Roads at the home of Marvin and Tammy Burns.

The Burns’ have put on displayed their holiday spirit for many years, much to the delight of hundreds of visitors.

The Port Huron area has several locations with dramatic displays including Sherman Woods area where neighbors have banded together to create a winter paradise.
