(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – Fire departments from St. Clair and Sanilac County
responded to a large woods and field fire in Lynn Township, west of Yale, Thursday afternoon.
According to authorities, firefighters responded to a property on Winn Road after receiving reports of a large woods fire.
More than 50 acres burned after strong winds spread ashes from a controlled brush pile that was burned several days ago ignited the blaze.
Fire departments from Brockway, Kenockee, Mussey and Speaker Townships all responded to the fire, remaining on scene for over four hours.
The property owner said the fire burned out of control for more than two hours before help arrived.
Fire department ATV’s, grass fire trucks and farmer’s tractors were used to help extinguish the flames.
