One dead after fatal accident in Peck

A 22-year old man from Marlette is dead following an accident involving a semi-tractor and two trailers that happened Saturday in Peck. Sanilac Central Dispatch received a call shortly after noon and responded to a private business in the 5000 block of South Sandusky Road. Investigation revealed that a 35-year old Caro man was driving a semi-tractor hooked up to a trailer in the parking lot of the business. The driver was attempting to back up and attach the semi-tractor and trailer to a second trailer. While backing up, the 22-year old Marlette man–who was assisting the driver of the semi–became pinned between the two trailers and the equipment used to connect them. Sanilac EMS took the man to McKenzie Hospital in Sandusky, where he was pronounced deceased. The Elk Township Fire Department assisted at the scene. The names of those involved are being withheld pending further investigation.
