Sanilac County election results

Although it took longer than normal, due to a record turnout, the votes have been counted in Sanilac County. Clerk Denise McGuire reports more than 22,500 voters, or 80% turned out for the election, either at the polls or by absentee voting. In the race for Circuit Court Judge, Timothy C. Wrathall easily won over Mark E. Davidson by a margin of 10,796 to 7,826. In Sanilac Township, Dru Moran garnered 66% of the vote to win the Treasurer position while in Speaker Township, Tracy Sheldon defeated two other challengers by a wide margin to win the Township’s Treasurer’s job. Worth Township voters rejected a Headlee Overide question as well as a Parks and Recreation request, both by wide margins. In a local school board race, Dan Gerstenberger defeated Jessica Lamm 1,827 to 1,137 to win a partial term position on the boards while Norah Harding and Jane Jacobson will be seated on the board for six-year terms after defeating two other challengers. In Lexington, Kristen Kaatz picked up 322 votes to edge James Grescok who had 2544 votes to win the Village President position. Naysa Heilig defeated Joyse Hagan in one of the closer races of the night. Heilig won the Moore Township Clerk job, beating Hagan 278 to 248.
