Police respond to shots fired in Marlette

(MARLETTE) — Police from two agencies responded to a residence in Marlette over the weekend, after receiving reports of shots being fired. According to authorities, Marlette police responded to the home in the area of Morris and Fenner Streets around 3:00 a.m. Saturday. Responding officers were told gunfire could be heard going off during a 9-1-1 call. A 43-year old man first told officers someone was trying to break into his home, but later stated they were not trying to gain entry but on his property, so he fired a shot from his shotgun. Officers did not find anyone on the property and confiscated the man’s weapon. The incident remains under investigation. Marlette police were assisted by the Sanilac County Sheriff Department.
