COVID-19 cases continue upward climb in Sanilac; 24 active cases

The number of coronavirus cases in Sanilac County continues to increase, causing moderate concern amongst health care officials.

Since early July when 42 cases were being reported, Sanilac has seen those numbers climb in the last five weeks, now reporting 106 cases.

24 of those cases are considered active with one person being housed in an out-of-county hospital. The Croswell area continues to have the highest number of cases with 21 while Sandusky has 18 and the Deckerville area has 13.

Both Marlette and Carsonville are reporting eight cases.

The Sanilac County Health Department says the Southwest quadrant of the county has 21 cases, the Northwest quadrant has 19, there are 25 cases in the Northeast quadrant and the Southeast quadrant continues to have the highest number of cases in the county with 41.

There have been five deaths reported in Sanilac County as a result of the coronavirus.
