“Pop-Up weddings” a thing in Port Sanilac

(Port Sanilac, MI – June 16, 2020) June is typically the biggest wedding month of the year, but in the face of COVID-19, the forecast looks a whole lot different for 2020.

The wedding industry estimates that 74 percent of weddings planned this year have been cancelled or postponed—and the intimate weddings at the historic church at the Sanilac County Village & Museum have been no exception.

But like any good love story, the Museum is offering a happy ending for couples who still want their special day.

The Museum has partnered with several vendors to create a one-stop shopping experience for brides.

“Pop-Up Wedding” packages will be offered on five dates throughout the summer: July 11 and 25, August 1 and 29, and September 12. A 90-minute slot will be available on each date at 4:00pm and 6:00pm.

Pop-Up Weddings at the Museum include an officiate, photographer, bouquet and boutonniere, live musician, wedding coordinator, wedding cake, and champagne toast, all in the beautiful, historic church.

The intimate events are set up “social distancing style” to maximize the health and safety of all guests. The package includes up to ten guests, plus the bride and groom. Upgrades to the package are available to include additional guests, videographer, and other options.

Cathy Stewart, Wedding Coordinator for the Museum, says, “Pop-Up Weddings are perfect for those who’ve had their original plans interrupted by COVID-19, those planning second weddings, and for the couple that just want a lovely wedding without spending a lot of money. The bride and groom just need to show up dressed and ready to say their vows. We’ll handle the rest.”

On that note, the Museum has partnered with various local vendors, including Flower Street Photography in Croswell, and Sandtown Florist and SugarTown Sweets Shop in Sandusky.

Stewart says, “The fallout from COVID-19 has been felt significantly in the wedding industry and we are pleased to be able to help some area businesses by including them in our packages.”

Pop-Up Weddings offer a stress-free solution to a tasteful, intimate, personal wedding, and help put the emphasis back on the couple and their love for each other. And what better place to do that than in the beautiful historic church at the Museum?

Sanilac County Historic Village & Museum is located at 228 S. Ridge St. (M-25) in Port Sanilac.
