Sandusky man sustains serious injuries in Marlette Township accident

A Sandusky man sustained serious injuries in a truck vs motorcycle crash late Tuesday afternoon in Marlette Township. According to the Sanilac County Sheriff Department, deputies responded to the call near the intersection of Reynolds Road and M-53 around 5:30 p.m. investigators say a 2010 Chevrolet Colorado driven by a 73-year-old Brown City man with a 60-year-old Brown City female passenger, was southbound on M-53, attempting to complete a U-Turn to turn back northbound. The driver of the Colorado did not see a 2009 Kawasaki Motorcycle operated by a 47-year-old Sandusky man that was also southbound on M-53. The motorcycle struck the Colorado pickup and the operator of the motorcycle was ejected off of the motorcycle. Deputies say the occupants of the Colorado were not injured but, the Sandusky man was taken to Marlette Regional Hospital by Marlette EMS and later transferred to Flint Hurley Hospital by Flight Care for further treatment. The occupants of the Colorado were believed to be wearing their seatbelts and their airbags did not deploy. Deputies say the injured Sandusky man was not wearing a helmet and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash. The names of the subjects are being withheld pending further investigation.
