(SANILAC COUNTY) – A car vs motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon sent two people to the hospital for treatment.

According to the Sanilac County Sheriff Department, two St. Clair County residents were riding their motorcycle on Sanilac Ave. in Elmer Township when they collided with a vehicle around 2:30 p.m.

Deputies say the 42-year old Kimball Township man was driving west on M-46 when he attempted to pass a vehicle that was slowing to turn into a driveway near Townline Road.

The front end of the car, driven by a 20-year old man from Glennie, struck the motorcycle, ejecting the man and his 42-year old passenger from Marysville.

Both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle were transported to McKenzie Health System for treatment of injuries by Sanilac EMS.

The occupants of the motorcycle were not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash according to deputies and the crash remains under investigation.

Deputies were assisted by the Sandusky police and fire departments.
