The Sandusky Arts Council met Wednesday evening and heard a presentation from Sanilac County Health Department Director Bryant Wilke regarding the upcoming scheduled Lawn Chair Music Series.
Following the presentation and much discussion, the 10-member board has voted to cancel the season, due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Sandusky Arts Council President Kevin Kohn said alternatives were discussed, but members felt with Wilke’s concern of crowd sizes and the potential of spreading the virus if someone was positive, the difficult decision was made.
Kohn did say plans are underway for possibly having music on the Courthouse Lawn later this summer, if details can be worked out.
Kohn said consideration was given to what other communities hosting such events, such as Lexington and Port Sanilac, were doing and board members felt it was best to cancel for this season.
