Carlson named Regional Teacher of the Year

A veteran Sandusky educator has been recognized by her peers and earned a prestigious award from the State of Michigan.

Junior/Senior high school teacher Erin Carlson has been named Regional Teacher of the Year by the Michigan Teacher Leadership Advisory Council.

Carlson is one of ten educators statewide that have earned the honor.

A 15 year veteran in education, Carlson is extremely in the school district including teaching 11th grade English, 7th and 8th grade STEM classes and an online high school reading class, among other duties.

Carlson has completed her sixth year of teaching in the Junior/Senior high school, having worked previously in elementary education.

She is active outside of the classroom as well, serving on the Elk Township library board and is a Co-Advisor of the Sandusky Key Club and National Honor Society.

Carlson was also selected as a Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education award winner in 2020.
