Updated Covid-19 numbers in the Thumb

While the number of COVID-19 cases continues to spiral upwards statewide at a high rate, in the Thumb region, only a few new cases have been reported as of Thursday evening. Sanilac County reported another case, giving them eight in the county – along with one death, while Lapeer County saw the largest increase locally, going from eight to 21 cases. Tuscola now has 14 cases while Huron County has four. Tuscola has reported two deaths due to the virus while neither Huron or Lapeer have not had any deaths. In St. Clair County, health department officials now say there are now 53 cases as the two major hospitals take in overflow patients from the Metro-Detroit area along with treating local patients.
