Lapeer deputy recovering from COVID-19

A Lapeer County sheriff deputy is among the positive cases of COVID-19. Sheriff Scott McKenna said the deputy has been off work for two months due to an injury and recently learned of the positive test results. McKenna, who learned of the case Wednesday night, says there is no concern for contamination within the department due to the deputy being off of work. Through their investigation, health department officials contacted those who had been in contact with the deputy and discovered a second deputy had been in contact for a short period of time. That deputy will complete a 14-day quarantine per department and state protocol, this week. In his press release, Sheriff McKenna said the second deputy showed no signs or symptoms of COVID-19 and is feeling fine.
