Officials warn of Coronavirus test scam

The Lapeer County Sheriff Department is reporting they have learned of fake Coronavirus test kits being offered to residents. The department says they have been informed the supposed test kits contain toxic chemicals that can be extremely harmful if used. One suspect has been arrested in another country in connection with the bogus testing kits, known as Corona Virus 2019nconv or Virus Test Kit 1. Officials encourage everyone to only inquire about test kits with your primary healthcare providers. These fake kits are being sold and scamming people by using emails, phone calls and social media. Police encourage everyone to not buy any test kits from any individual or organization other than your family healthcare provider.
