Caro announces preventative measures for COVID-19

CARO, MI- The City of Caro announced today that effective immediately all access to city facilities,
including city hall, fire department, police department, department of public works and wastewater
treatment plant is restricted to city personnel only.

All public meetings, including the city council meeting
scheduled for tonight at 7:30 PM, will be cancelled. City buildings will be open to the public, tentatively,
on Monday, April 6, 2020.

“We have to do what is best for our residents and to stop the spread of Coronavirus. I want the public to be
assured that these restrictions will not affect services provided by the police and fire departments. All
emergency services are in full effect,” said Mayor Joe Greene.

To encourage proper infection control procedures, as recommended by federal, state and local health
officials, water shut offs have been suspended until April 6, 2020. Water customers will still be
responsible to pay for water services.

“We will be suspending water shut-offs for the time-being,” said Matthew Lane, Caro City Manager, “but
our customers will still be responsible for paying their bills and any corresponding late fees.”

The city will still be accepting payments through the mail, at the city hall drop box and online. Staff will be
continuing to answer the phones.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns for city staff please contact city hall at 989-673-7671 or email the city clerk at ssavage@carocity.net.
