Lapeer waitress cashes in on generous tip

(LAPEER COUNTY) – A waitress at a Dryden business had the shock of a lifetime, after just doing her job.

A customer pulled out a tip of 10 crisp $100 bills, placing them on the bar in Dryden as the stunned waitress looked on.

Dawn Isken didn’t know how to react to the generous gift but the patron told her to use it for herself and her two grandchildren she is raising.

Isken said the patron’s bill only totaled $55 dollars, but they spent several hours at the establishment before making Isken’s day with the tip.

Isken told the customers she is a widow whose daughter died and now she is raising two grandsons, ages 12 and 14, by herself in Lapeer.

Despite trying to not accept the gift, the customer insisted and added another $100 dollars for a fundraiser being held for the Dryden high school.

The business is located on Dryden Road and known as the old Chuck Wagon and more recently, Lenny Miller’s.
