Minden Township considers fire protection options

(MINDEN TOWNSHIP) – Fire protection service was on the mind of Minden Township officials at their meeting last week as they work with Minden City fire officials to try and resolve an on-going for many departments in the area.

Township officials expressed their concern of Minden City’s lack of manpower during the daytime hours and according to the Minden City Herald, are considering their options including contracting with Delaware Township fire department for fire protection.

Township officials say they pay 80% of Minden’s fire budget and claim only six of the eighteen members are active on the department.

Minden Township’s contract with Minden City expires later this month and the board will discuss with Delaware Township the possibility of making changes.
