Hoping to succeed the Honorable Donald A. Teeple, who has announced he will not seek re-election, attorney Timothy C Wrathell has announced he will run for Sanilac County Circuit Court Judge, a non-partisan position.

Wrathell’s name will be on the ballot for the August 2020 Primary, and he’s hoping voters decide to put their trust in him to positively influence Sanilac County.

“I am seeking the position of Circuit Court Judge because I believe I will be able to make positive and meaningful changes in the Circuit Court to promote the well-being and progress of Sanilac County and its residents,” Wrathell explained.

Wrathell, who was born and raised in Sanilac County and currently resides in Sandusky, described his fondness of Sanilac County and disclosed this position as a lifelong ambition of his, stating, “I returned to Sanilac County after law school because I am proud of where I am from and am passionate about making a positive impact in our community.”

Wrathell graduated from Sandusky High School with Highest Honors and then went on to further his education through various impressive facets. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree, Magna Cum Laude, with Highest Distinction in Surveying Engineering from Ferris State University. He then received his Master of Science in Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University, and his Juris Doctor Degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, now known as Western Michigan University, Cooley Law School.

Along with his education, Wrathell has practical and credible experience that will help him successfully deliver trustworthy and fair outcomes. He has experience as a litigator, a guest referee for Friend of the Court, a mediator, case evaluator, and an arbitrator. Additionally, he has jury trial experience in District, Probate, and Circuit Courts.

“For over a decade I have been practicing law, handling the types of cases the Circuit Court oversees, such as civil, criminal, divorce, custody, child support, general family law, personal protection orders, abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, name changes, driver’s license restoration, and adoptions. I plan to use the knowledge I have gained to provide fair and unbiased judgment on legal matters which affect the lives of Sanilac County residents.”

Wrathell has represented clients in court cases in at least 13 counties, including Sanilac, Huron, Tuscola, St. Clair, Lapeer, Macomb, Oakland, Genesee, Saginaw, Bay, Gratiot, Ingham, and Ottawa. In addition to Wrathell‘s legal experience, his passion for leadership makes him an ideal candidate.

He is a member of the Leadership Advisory Board for the P.C.U.P.S. Foundation for prostate cancer awareness, and the acting president of the Sanilac County Bar Association, a position to which he was voted by his peers.
