Community meeting in Sandusky February 10th

(SANDUSKY) – Much speculation has filled folks sitting at coffee tables throughout the County in recent weeks as residents brainstorm what could be done with the Maple Valley School that the Sandusky school board has decided to sell.

County residents will be able to make their feelings known at a special community meeting next week, at Liberty lanes in Sandusky.

City council members in Sandusky have discussed the issue and they – like many others, feel it could become home to some sort of community center.

The meeting was organized by Sandusky officials who want to hear ideas from residents and businesses.

City Manager Dave Faber has said there is growing interest for the building, resting on 19 acres, to become home to a senior citizen facility, community center, recreational facility and activities for children.

The Sanilac ISD has a long-term lease for a portion of the building they currently use for their programs.

The community meeting will be held Monday, beginning at 7 p.m. at Liberty Lanes.
