Austin Township makes change in coverage

(AUSTIN TOWNSHIP) – Not wanting to wait to see what transpired, one township in northwest Sanilac County has taken action to provide medical coverage for its residents.

With the future of the Bingham Township Ambulance Service uncertain, Austin Township officials took matters into their own hands.

The Board of Trustees approved changing their EMS protection to have Sanilac EMS provide medical needs while the Argyle Fire Department will provide Medical First Responder needs and eventually, fire protection.

Bingham Ambulance service was scheduled to cease operations at the end of the month.

However, the date to end the EMS service was delayed to the end of March while talks continued between Central Huron Ambulance and Bingham Township.
