A Lapeer Community Schools bus was surrounded by Lapeer Police Dept. cruisers on Thursday following a false claim of a weapon on board. According to authorities, a bus transferring students from Lapeer High School to Zemmer Campus was pulled over on Oregon Road where it was later determined that claims of a weapon in possession of a student were unfounded. According to a press release issued Thursday afternoon, school officials said Lapeer Police promptly investigated the claim and the investigation will continue. They said making unfounded claims will not be tolerated by the district and those involved will face disciplinary action.
